How to use our search

A new way to find specific activities, for example, wooden boat restorers or classic sailing yacht builders, in the UK We will no doubt have made mistakes in this test version. As the MAGTeam system recognizes 1200 different activities in the fascinating world of boating, and more than 1,000,000 bits of data, it is inevitable that there are errors. However our system is such that changes can be made in seconds, at the click of a button.

The geographical scope of this Magazine is England, Scotland, Wales, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands.

The activities cover the world of boating with the exception of the wonderful world of Britain's inland waterways, which is the subject of a separate magazine. We have however included some chandlers and marinas, which can of course be of great value to those who own craft other than narrowboats.

NAME

If you know the name, then you can use this directory, and don't need the search facility of the other boxes.
As much of the name as you can, but minimum of first three letters.

DICTIONARY

1.

When using traditional search engines, we are accustomed to typing many words, hoping that those words might be included in the web sites that we are seeking. The MAGteam search is different in that it has a classification for every single one of the 1200 activities in boating, that we know about so far. This hopefully finds exactly, and exclusively, what you are seeking.

In most cases we achieve this with just one word in DICTIONARY, so put our search facility to the test by typing a word for a particular product, activity, trade or profession.

2.

You might like to try a few words, that are precise, and therefore do not stretch the brain power of the dictionary too much.

Firstly without choosing a SECTOR, and then using various SECTORS that you think might apply:-

      Bavaria
      B14,    GP14,    Laser
      Chandler
      Dinghy
      Disabled
      Electric Boat
      Rope stripper
      Trailer
      Used gear
      Volvo
      Wire Cable

3.

In whichever country we live, we have all spent time having to find many different sections in printed yellow page directories, to find exactly what we want. We have also done the same in internet directories. Hopefully the MAGteam business directory makes this a thing of the past.

You might like to try the following examples in DICTIONARY, again leaving SECTOR blank, and see what the thesauraus offers you.

      Antique
      Boat
      Boatyard
      Charger
      Engine
      Fitting
      Instrument
      Museum
      Navigation
      Outboard
      Phantom,    Osprey,    OD
      School

If you are searching for classic boat restorer UK, traditional boat builders UK, or classic power boats UK using a traditional search engine, then those are the sort of words that you might type. Using MAGTeam, just type a word such as traditional, classic, antique, old, vintage, or restorer, and the thesaurus will offer you exactly what you are seeking.

If you are seeking a manufacturer of "electric windscreen wipers", just type wiper.

We have mentioned above several boats that are listed. There are in fact over 350 different brands of boat added to the DICTIONARY.

You might also like to try to achieve any of the above results, using any other search engine or directory.

4.

The words in SECTOR are not included in DICTIONARY, with the exception of when you are seeking Associations of those listed as SECTORS. You might like to try a few examples, such as brokers, tuition, manufacturers or clubs in DICTIONARY, using Associations in SECTOR.

SECTOR

This distinguishes between the various levels in the supply chain, and the other related activitities, and simply avoids having to repeatedly type such words in DICTIONARY. Leave this blank initially, and see what the dictionary offers you. Then try the reverse by leaving DICTIONARY blank, and choosing a SECTOR and location. e.g. TUITION and Falmouth.

WHERE

Are you seeking an activity in the whole of Great Britain, in which case leave WHERE blank, or, for example, East Sussex, or Eastbourne, or Sovereign Harbour ? As much of the word as possible, but minimum of first three letters. For towns or villages such as St. Agnes, we just use St Agnes without the full stop. This search works on the post code entered by each business or organisation in their personal control panel. Until that is entered, they will not be found using WHERE.
